- Oakwood offers free car seat safety check
03/19/2008 - Oakwood’s Community Health Department is holding a free child safety seat inspection from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 at the Livonia Fire Department, 35000 Seven Mile Road in Livonia. Trained and certified Oakwood Healthcare System (OHS) car seat safety technicians in partnership with local fire and police will be on-hand to conduct the inspection and update you on the car and booster seat requirements relative to your child's height, weight and age. Additional Car Safety Seat Inspections will be held May 15th at Gordon Chevrolet, 31850 Ford Road in Garden City and May 20th at Oakwood Healthcare Childcare Center, 3601 Pelham in Dearborn.

The certified athletic trainers of OHS are members of the OHS Sports Medicine program. The prevention, detection, assessment, management, treatment and rehabilitation of the injuries and conditions of student athletes are several examples of the program’s goals. The theme this year, chosen by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, is Who’s Taking Care of Your Kids?

- Oakwood offers educational courses on mental illness to the community
02/04/2008 - The Oakwood Healthcare System (OHS) Foundation and the National Alliance on Mental Illness – Metro (NAMI-Metro) have teamed up to bring a ten-week Families in Action Educational Program to the community at two locations this February. The course is specifically designed for individuals with a loved one who has been diagnosed with a form of mental illness.
